I have a nice what?

Funny story to tell you about my experience this morning. I was filling my car up with gas at my local Kangaroo Station minding my own business. I hear someone's voice but am not paying attention. Then the voice gets louder..."Hey, you! Good morning to ya." I look over to see a middle-aged African American gentleman who is staring at me while pumping his gas. I notice his Crown Vic and badge on his hip. I kindly say, "Good morning," and leave it at that. He continues, "You have a nice ...." Hmm. What did he say? I repeat, "I have a nice vehicle?" He shakes his head and repeats, "You have a nice figure!"

What the meth? Hold the phone! Who says this to a total stranger at 7 a.m. in the morning while pumping gas? There are so many things wrong with this that I can point out. Like he's a good 20 years older than me. Creepy. But even someone closer to my age wouldn't make that statement acceptable. Second, did he really think that line would work? Has someone fallen for it before? Third, in order to comment on my figure, he must have been staring at me as I pumped my gas. This gave me the heebie geebies! (I like that word. I should use it more often) Anyway, if you're wondering my response, I tried my best to play it cool. It probably didn't look that way. I said, "Thank you, but I would have to disagree." I hurried into my ninJetta and got out of there!

What shall I take away from this experience? That some men really do like thick, curvy women? That I need to stay away from this Kangaroo gas station? That I can't help that I'm a beautiful, sexy lady? :)

What shall you take away from this experience? 1- DON'T think you can hit on a stranger with the line, "You have a nice figure." If that is the first, well technically second sentence you've ever said to them, then you need to reevaluate yourself and understand what is and is not socially acceptable behavior. 2- That I can't help I'm a beautiful, sexy lady. Ha! Kidding on the last one.

Anyway, hope this has been entertaining. Will post more later about a day in the life of me! :)

Baby Shower and Christmas Wreaths

I'm combining these two today since they will be short. First, I got to see one of my childhood friends this weekend when I went to her baby shower in Petal, MS. Yay, Kayla! Landyn Brice Williams will be born this December!

Second, I am making and selling Christmas wreaths again this year. Here is one that I made last year.

White and Red mesh wreath (full) with red ornament balls

This one is $25. According to the number of materials I use and different designs, the prices are between $25-$40. I'll be starting this in October and am planning on trying to make some for fall too. I've got an idea about hand painting a wooden plaque to go in the center. When I get around to making it, I'll post it for you to see. Let me know if you are interested in getting one. I can get different colors of mesh ribbon so if red and white isn't your thing, dont' worry.

Just posting this has already gotten me in the Christmas spirit. We've still got Halloween and Thanksgiving. And by the way, the first day of autumn was Friday.

Happy Fall, Y'all!

Sweet as Honey!

On Sunday, I got to babysit one of my favorite kids- Sarah Cole! After hanging out and apparently getting wasted (just kidding), she just conked out. Beth and I didn't want to wake her up so we just took her out of the car like this. How precious!

SCM
But after a cute kid like that, it's almost impossible not to brag about my precious baby too! His name is Jake and this is his new favorite hobby- sitting on the kitchen chair staring at me folding clothes. He needs a haircut so you can see his eyes. He is my love!

Life is Full of Surprises!

So, for my 24th Birthday, I set out to meet my sister for sushi. Little did I know she had orchestrated a surprise birthday party and invited many of my close friends! Being in the middle of the week, several weren't able to come, but I was so thankful for the ones who could make it. Sorry I didn't get a non-blurry picture of Stephanie and Anna.

Me, Michelle, Jessica
And, of course, my sister started taking pictures of herself being the silly, crazy girl she is! Don't worry, I told her that I was going to post these. Besides, she shouldn't have taken them of herself on MY phone if she didn't want them to be seen, right? haha.
Take 1 of double chin

Take 2
So, to sum it all up: I had a great birthday!

I'm WINNING

So, I'm going back a couple of weeks with this update, but it is so worth sharing. These 2 ladies and I ran a 5K. Yes, you read correctly. A 5K!

Holly (me), Beth, and Shanna
It was my first one! Although my time wasn't very good and none of expected to place, we stuck around to support the ch'ren do the 1 mile fun run and to watch the awards ceremony. And guess what!.....

3rd place, baby!
I haven't won anything in a long time, so this was so exciting! I was so thankful for the support of my sister and friend. I seriously would not be able to say that I ran a 5K without them. I never would have done it on my own. Thank you, girls!

Ask me how I'm doing. Because I am Winning!... just like Charlie!

"Lord Undo Me"

I heard this poem on KLOVE this morning and it really touched me. This poem made me realize that I need to look into my heart and see how wicked I am so that I can really be humbled and realize that it takes a lot for Him to love me. He is such a Great God! Worship Him today!

BTW, this poem is copied from another blogger's page: http://thejourneybeginsheresisters.blogspot.com/2010/09/lord-undo-me.html. Got to give credit where credit is due, right?

"Lord Undo Me"
I don’t really worship these day
I don’t really stand up to praise you with songs
Or prayers or actions
or with anything
I am full of all the right moves
I am full of all the right words
I am full of all the right religion
But it is all just illusion
I am really
Lonely
Lost
Calloused
Jaded
Cynical
Too religious
Too realistic
and well really just to lazy
to worship you anymore
I have lost my first love
I have lost the joy of your presence
But most of all I have lost the fear of your glory

Father I need to see you again
Like Isaiah I want to stand in awe of your glory
To fall down at your feet
To come face to face with your
Perfection,
Radiance,
Goodness,
Holiness,
Awesomeness
I want to stand before you and see you for who you are
and me for who I am
I want to be undone

I want to know me for who I really am
I want to see the depths of my heart
And know that you are the only way
You are the only truth
You are the only life
I want to see me and understand
What it really must have taken for you to
Love me
Care for me
See me
Speak to me
Want me
Communicate with me
Die for me
Die for me
Die for me

Lord, I want to stand in that place where all I can see is your glory
And my sin
Because in that place I can’t help but worship you.
Lord let me come undone
Undo my heart
Lord, undo my heart
break down these walls that I love so much
No, wait don’t,
I’m scared I don’t know if I can handle this
don’t
But I can’t live this way anymore
I can’t stand here in this half-life
this going through the motions life
this not really alive life
Father, I need you so come in and do what you must
Cut out the tumor on my heart
Break down the walls that I love
Lord let me come undone
Undo my heart
let me worship you again

Surprises and Sushi

My birthday just kept getting better and better! My sister asked me to join her at one of her favorite sushi joints- Sakura Bana. Little did I know the scheme she had devised. She had managed to invite all my friends (although some couldn't come) to surprise me with a birthday party. She amazed me at how she was able to track them down. Anyway, we partied the night away... Well, actually until the restaurant closed. I'll try to post pictures. Most were blurry so there might only be a couple.

By the way, let me give a shout out to my awesome sister, Shanna. It's her birthday today! Happy 28th! I hope it is as special as you made mine. :)

Funny story about my birthday gift. So, I excitedly wrote in my first blog about the new rug that I just bought at Kirkland's. Well, guess what my sister got me... the exact same rug! So, now I have two and am trying to figure out what to do with the other one. Other cool gifts I got were monogrammed hand-made pot holders to match my home decor, wall art and picture frame, a beautiful potted Mum that I'm determined not to kill, and a gift certificate to Harry the Potter. I'm excited because I've never been there before.

I also went to Target yesterday... HUGE sale on tons of things. I got a new comforter & shams (King size): $25! Will have to take pictures of my cute apartment when everything is cleaned and in its place. I am waiting on my coffee table and DVD rack which will be a cool project. I plan on painting it turquoise and antiquing it. Will take pictures of it too. I'm so excited!

Other things I'm excited about that's coming up: Kandice and Chance's wedding, Kayla and Caleb's Baby shower, The Lion King 3D in theaters, Season Premier of The Biggest Loser, Glee, The New Girl, and Raising Hope.

That's all for now. Will blog ya later!

Helping to make more birthdays

So, I was praying this morning and telling God how thankful I am that I have had another year of life, and yet another birthday. Then, I was reminded of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk that I have committed to helping with. I thought about it because the American Cancer Society and other sisters like us are wanting to rid the world of breast cancer and help make more birthdays for both women and men (yes, men get breast cancer too).

I am part of the Discount Trophy Disco Divas team and we are walking on Saturday, October 8, 2011. I would like to challenge you to either join our team or to make a donation towards this great cause. If you cannot do either, I will go KLOVE on you and ask that you pray for these women and men around the world and for my team as we are going MAD (Making A Difference). Below is the link to my page.

Happy Birthday to ME!

What better than to have my first post on my 24th birthday!!! I have so much to talk about, but I promise I won't drop it all on you at once.

So, my family and a few close friends have been really encouraging this week. I've enjoyed my count downs and reminders about my birthday. Today, I have already been called and serenaded to and that's all before 8 a.m. Plus, my sweet dear friend, Corey, bought me my favorite breakfast from Chik-fil-a: Chicken minis and a Coca-Cola. :)

I've gotten a kind email from my friend, Stephanie (follow her at StephanieHardin.blogspot.com). Here is her email. So, sweet, right?

Anyway, I am going to lunch with my parents, and my sister, Shanna, is taking me out tonight. To where, I have no idea. It's all a surprise. Yay!

I bought myself a birthday present last night from Kirkland's. It's a black and white area rug. Will have to post pictures. I got it for $29.99. GREAT DEAL! Plus I got a wedding gift for my friend Kandice, a salt and pepper shaker for fall decor, and a monogrammed tea towel. With $10 discount, Total was $44 and some change. I love the deals that you can find at Kirkland's! I should so be a spokesperson. ;)

Anyway, I hope everyone's day is as special as mine!
